How Can A Computer Poker Program Improve Your Game?
Solid poker play includes:
- Knowing which starting hands are profitable and how to play them.
- How to adjust starting hand selection based on the looseness of a game.
- How to adjust starting hand selection based on the passivity of a game.
- When to play aggressively, when to play passively and when to fold.
- Proper reaction, but not over-reaction, to up-cards/board cards.
A powerful poker program can help you master these principles two different
ways:
- Playing interactively
- Using Smart Computer Simulation
Playing Interactively
"Practice makes perfect." True, but for practice to be effective, it must be done
in the context of real play. How you play in a tight, aggressive game must differ
from how you play in a loose, passive game. Our poker programs let you sit
at the poker table with whatever mix of players you want to practice against.
We have a roster of pre-programmed players for you to choose from.
You can adjust the game structure to your needs (limits, max raises, etc.)
The ability to "zip to the end" after you fold lets you practice 3-4 times faster
than playing in a real game.
Using "Smart Computer Simulation"
"Smart Computer Simulation" is like a real game but it's played at high speed.
In a few hours, the program can complete the equivalent of a full year's worth
of play. The simulation is very useful because it's "smart". Each computer
player is programmed to act like a real player. As in a real game, betting, raising
and folding are based on the player's hand, position, status of the pot, which
cards are visible, etc. Results from this are much more accurate than the usual
"dumb" computer simulation showdown poker.
Add to this the ability to tell the program your style of play and you
can test how effective that style is. More importantly, you can revise parts of
your strategy and learn what works and what doesn't. The data is reliable because
the ability to play thousands of hands removes the luck factor en- countered
in short term play.
With our poker programs you get to experiment and improve your game without
having to put real money into the pot!
